Majjiga Pulusu (Buttermilk Rasam /Spicy yogurt Stew)

Buttermilk is basically beated yogurt diluted with water. In olden days the yogurt/curd and water mixture is churned repeatedly in order to separate the fat(butter) and then the remaining butter milk is used in making this recipe.I remember my mom use to churn curd with reserved cream to make ghee. After separating the butter, the buttermilk taste sour,so once in every week majjiga pulusu was a common dish at my mom's place and she still soes tat.She used to make different varieties with the sour buttermilk, often with leafy vegetables.

There are several ways of doing majjiga pulusu(South Indian Kadi). Each one has a different taste.Majjiga pulusu true translation is buttermilk stew. This is very easy and quick to prepare and will come handy when you want to prepare a quick yet, delicious meal. This majjiga pulusu with out vadiyalu also good. For this recipe u need:-

Combine the besan with water and mix to avoid any lumps.

Now add the basan mixture into buttermilk mix well. When the tomatoes and dry mangoes are cooked add this mixute to it.Bring to boil.
Now low the heat and add salt to it mix well. When the butter milk is boiling now add the vadiyalu and cook until the vadiyalu cooks.
When the vadiyalu cooks turn off the heat.Garnish with coriander leaves.Majjiga pulusu is ready to serve.

Serve with hot rice. This is usually eaten with pappu and papad or vadiyaalu.
Soon i will come with vadiyalu more  recipes.
